Scoping Out for Ideas
So, here's a video of an interview I did with a UL student about why the women's soccer team doesn't have as many spectators as other sports. Do you agree with his thoughts and what can be done to help out? Comment below with your own thoughts and ideas.
About the Team
The Ragin' Cajun soccer team is a team that is working towards their peak right now. Head Coach Scot Weiland has reshaped this team ever since he began coaching in 2005. He has changed the recruiting plan to include more and more local players each year as well, keeping Louisiana talent in Louisiana. To read more about Coach Weiland, click here.
The team is, of course, still filled with girls from across the nation, each who have a passion to play soccer in a competitive way. Their passion is evident from the way they practice and play. They encourage one another on and off the field. They also are hard-working students. In the 2010-2011 school year, 18 of the 23 players had maintained a 3.0 GPA throughout the school year. They also had the highest average GPA out of all the teams at UL. And not only are they putting time into being a student-athlete, they're also putting time into charity by spending time with hospitalized children. This blog is dedicated to the soccer team, to help bring more fans to the games and encourage Ragin' Cajuns to support all these women who have dedicated their collegiate years to represent the Ragin' Cajuns.

Introductions
Hey guys! So, from being a former soccer player and always being a fan, I know that soccer isn't as well-received as other sports in the good ole U.S. of A. And I especially understand that women's soccer is even less well-received than men's. I'm not naive, I understand why people feel this way.
But, I would like to invite you all to put your prejudices aside for a moment and really try to understand the beautiful game. The rest of the world is fanatic about it; why can't Americans be? I would also like to bring your attention to the fact that we lucky Ragin' Cajuns have our very own team to get excited about. We don't even have to go very far to see the sport. Actually, soccer is bigger in the Acadian area than people think. It is the hub for youth soccer in Louisiana and actually a powerhouse in club and high school play. Fortunately, for UL, there are a good number of Louisiana girls who have become Ragin' Cajuns to play soccer. So, not only are you watching your fellow classmates at these games, you're watching the locals play. UL is growing in prominence in the Sun Belt Conference because of this.
If you're a sports fan, you can't leave out the women's soccer team. They're an intense group who have a lot of passion for their sport. They are always working to improve themselves individually and also as a team. They play hard and deserve to get some attention for their efforts. The love being Cajuns and supporting our school. So, go out and support them! Posts will keep coming so stay updated to learn more about women's soccer here at UL.
